Huntington Beach — Surf City USA — is one of the best places in the world to ride a beach cruiser. Miles of flat coastal paths, ocean views, and year-round sunshine make it a cyclist's paradise. Here are our favorite rides, brought to you by the team at Huntington Beach Bicycle Company.
1. The Huntington Beach Bike Path
Distance: ~8.5 miles (one way)
Difficulty: Easy
Best for: All riders, families, cruisers
The crown jewel of Huntington Beach riding. This paved bike path runs along the coast from Seal Beach all the way down to Newport Beach, passing right through the heart of Huntington Beach. Flat, scenic, and perfect for a beach cruiser. Start at the pier at the end of Main Street and ride in either direction.
Pro tip: Park near our flagship store at 328 Main Street and ride straight to the path — it's less than a block away.
2. Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve Loop
Distance: ~3 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Best for: Nature lovers, casual riders
A flat, paved loop around the Bolsa Chica wetlands just north of Huntington Beach. You'll ride alongside one of the largest saltwater marshes in Southern California with incredible bird watching and ocean views. A peaceful alternative to the busy beach path.
3. Huntington Beach to Newport Beach
Distance: ~12 miles (one way)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Best for: Longer rides, 3 & 7-speed cruisers
Extend your beach path ride south into Newport Beach for a longer coastal adventure. The path transitions into the Newport Beach boardwalk — flat the whole way with stunning ocean views. Best done on a 7-speed cruiser for the extra distance.
4. Downtown Huntington Beach Loop
Distance: ~3-5 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Best for: Casual riders, sightseeing
Cruise through downtown Huntington Beach, along Pacific Coast Highway, and through the residential streets near the beach. Stop at local shops, grab a coffee, and soak in the Surf City vibe. A single speed cruiser is all you need for this one.
5. Sunset Ride on PCH
Distance: Varies
Difficulty: Easy
Best for: All riders
There's nothing quite like riding along Pacific Coast Highway at sunset with the ocean on one side and the city on the other. Time it right and you'll get one of the best views in Southern California. Bring a friend, grab a cruiser, and go.
